Meet Cherrise Bryan
As a retired educator, I have dedicated my life to the students, families, and schools in the Jackson Parish School District. As a lifelong citizen of Jackson Parish, I have witnessed firsthand the important role our public schools play in shaping the future of our children and strengthening our community. I believe my lifelong commitment to Jackson Parish and my years of experience in education have prepared me to serve our students, parents, teachers, and taxpayers with integrity, dedication, and sound judgment.
My connection to Jackson Parish began as a first-grade student at Hawk Elementary School. From there, I attended Rundell Elementary, Hodge Elementary, Union Bee Elementary, Rundell Junior High and finally graduating from Jonesboro Hodge High School. Those experiences helped shape the person I am today and inspired me to pursue a career in education.
After earning my teaching credentials with a master's degree in Elementary Education, I was honored to return to the school system that invested in me. I had the privilege of teaching at Jasper Henderson Elementary School, Quitman High School, and Jonesboro-Hodge Middle School. I later earned an additional master's degree in Educational Leadership where I continued to expand my skills and knowledge as an Instructional Coordinator by collaborating with educators and gaining valuable insight into the opportunities and challenges facing our schools.
My commitment to Jackson Parish Schools extends beyond my career in education. My husband, Joseph, and I both attended and graduated from Jonesboro Hodge High School, and were are proud to see our son, Anthony, and daughter, Machaela, graduate from the same school system. That commitment continues through our daughter-in-law, who serves students as a mental health counselor in a neighboring school district. I faithfully attend the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church where I am the Vacation Bible School Director. Our family's experiences as students, parents, educator, and education professionals have given us a deep appreciation for the vital role public schools play in preparing young people for successful futures.
If elected, I will work to ensure that every decision is made with students' best interests at heart. I will advocate for academic excellence, fiscal responsibility, safe and supportive learning environments, and open communication with parents, educators, and the community. I believe our schools are one of Jackson Parish's greatest assets, and I am committed to helping them continue to grow and succeed for future generations.
